New year, new issue of the What's New in IF? zine!

What is the What's New in IF? zine?

What's New in IF? is a bi-weekly zine about Interactive Fiction published every other Saturday recap'ing whatever we found in the previous two weeks.

Note: we take the wide definition of IF as in being interactive and with focus on text. This includes original text-adventures (parsers) choice-based/hyperlinks (like Twine/CoG), visual novels, and all the in-betweens and fringes.

Since there are so many places to find IF (including here), and so many accounts to follow, we are attempting to connect the different groups of the IF Community by centralizing as best we can these news!

Each issue includes new releases, new IF projects, updates, events, articles, and whatever we or our readers came across. We also try to highlight IF games every week, showcasing different ways of doing IF.

Since Issue #15 2024, we are also doing Interviews of IF creators from all corners of the Community.  You can also download the interviews separately here.

Since Issue #16 2024, we have opened The Column to anyone who would like to write something about IF. (Please do, we're desperate.)

How to read the Zine?

On this page, you will find multiple ways to access and read the zine:

• click Run Zine to "play" our current issue. You can flip through the pages (images) by clicking on either side of the screen or use the arrow key of your keyboard.
• download the ZIP folder of our current or past issue(s). Simply download the issue(s) you want to read, extract the the files and open the one you want. This version includes a PDF with links to the relevant pages as well as a transcribed .txt file with the list of links listed.

If you are on Tumblr, you can find our past issues transcribed, linked, and accounts tagged on our blog!

The zines were put together with Canva and its free Zine templates. Any help or message received for the content is mentioned on the back of the Zine. The "playable" version was compiled with the EZM Reader.

Who are we?

Just a small group of volunteers who try to collect as much Interactive Fiction related content as we possibly can - though we rely on the incredibly helpful help of our followers who send us news too!
